Skateboards, S'mores, and School

A new school year is huge event... this year made even more exciting by Noah's cast. Too many hours watching the X-Games and a homemade skateboard ramp in the backyard equaled one wrist with torn cartilage. The first week of school he had a splint on, replaced the next week with a full cast. What an unforgettable start to Junior High!
Caleb started 5th grade this year...and so far, so good. He likes his teacher and everything seems to be off to a great start. We've had to resort to bribing him with candy to keep up the piano, but that's the least of my worries. (And this year he has decided to expand his wardrobe by wearing gray, not just the standard black all the time.)

We had all the fixings for s'mores and every intention of taking one last trip to the beach this summer...but we ended up making them in the backyard the night that school started. I figured if we made a little celebration out of school starting, it might ease the pain for everyone...Spanish Teacher Scott included!

Don't they look like they are having fun?

Still no leads on teaching jobs for me...I guess it will be another year of torture as a substitute. At least I can make s'mores in the backyard anytime I want.

Oh come on Tara was Rigdon's class really that bad? J/K being a substitute is not as good as being a teacher...unless you want lot's of days off then it is great!
