Caleb is in 4th grade this year and, as a 4th grader in California, he has to do a Mission report. He chose Mission Santa Barbara. He gets extra credit for either building a model (ha!) or making a power point presentation. Guess which one we (meaning ME) picked? So we decided to take a little road trip up to Santa Barbara to get some pictures. He gets even more points if the pictures are his own and not downloaded from the internet. (At this point, Caleb could use every extra credit point possible!)
The mission is not in bad condition - there has been a lot of restoration. The drive up to Santa Barbara is fabulous. Once we got onto PCH, the view of the ocean was beautiful. We had the most gorgeous weather that day. And you can buy 10 avacados for $1 on the side of the road!
Caleb with an El Camino Real sign and Father Serra. (If you don't know who Father Serra is, you probably didn't attend elementary school in California!) He better get a good grade after all this...

I can't believe they are still doing this. I did this project in 4th grade too! Great job on the pictures.
10 avocados for a dollar that was worth the trip right there! Oh and the family time too.
